About Me

Dr. Phillip C. Hoopes, Jr. is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained corneal specialist. He serves as the medical director of EyeSurg of Utah, Hoopes Vision's on-site ambulatory surgery center. Dr. Hoopes completed his medical training at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, followed by an internship and residency in ophthalmology at Wake Forest, where he served as co-chief resident. He then completed a cornea and external disease fellowship at Eye Consultants of Atlanta.

After his fellowship, Dr. Hoopes joined Hoopes Vision as a cornea, cataract, and LASIK surgeon. He has been recognized for his surgical expertise and involvement in clinical research, including being the first surgeon in the United States to perform the KAMRA corneal inlay procedure following FDA approval. He has published and presented papers at national and international ophthalmology conferences. Dr. Hoopes is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
