About Me
Dr. Yewlin Chee is an Associate Professor and Director of the Retina Fellowship at the University of Washington Department of Ophthalmology. She was raised in Redmond, Washington, and completed her undergraduate degree at Princeton University before earning her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She then pursued her ophthalmology residency at Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where she served as Chief Resident and Director of the Ocular Trauma Service, followed by a vitreoretinal fellowship at the same institution.
Dr. Chee specializes in medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases, providing care for conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, macular edema, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, retinal detachments, and ocular trauma. Her patient care philosophy centers on understanding how retinal disease impacts quality of life and educating patients to ensure they have a clear understanding of their condition and treatment options. She works collaboratively with patients to develop personalized treatment plans using the latest medical and surgical therapies.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Chee is actively involved in research, focusing on posterior segment manifestations of ocular trauma and the optimization of ophthalmic training for residents and fellows. She sees patients at the Eye Institute at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
