Meet Dr. Tyler Junttila

Dr. Tyler Junttila is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with a special interest in pediatric eye care and glaucoma. He sees patients for routine exams and complex conditions, and offers surgical care including cataract, strabismus, and select oculoplastic procedures. In clinic, Dr. Junttila emphasizes clear communication and teamwork—he explains diagnostic findings, reviews medical and surgical options, and partners with families to choose a path that aligns with their needs. He completed ophthalmology residency and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and glaucoma at the University at Buffalo’s Ross Eye Institute after earning his medical degree from Michigan State University. Dr. Junttila provides care at Sanford Bemidji Eye Center and extends outreach services to surrounding communities, helping patients access specialty eye care closer to home. His goal is consistent: use proven treatments and modern technology to help each patient achieve their best, most comfortable vision.
