About Me
Dr. Tara McGehee is an associate professor and the residency program director in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, she specializes in cornea and external diseases, offering expert care for a range of conditions affecting the cornea and the front of the eye.
She completed her cornea and external diseases fellowship at the University of Iowa, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the University of North Carolina. Dr. McGehee earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and her undergraduate degree in neuroscience from the University of Virginia. Her clinical practice focuses on the medical and surgical management of corneal disorders.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. McGehee is dedicated to medical education and serves as the residency program director, overseeing the training of future ophthalmologists. She has been a faculty member at UVA since 2018 and continues to provide patient-centered care with a focus on the latest advancements in corneal treatment.
