About Me

Dr. Philip Newman is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over three decades of experience providing medical and surgical eye care. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where he also completed his ophthalmology residency. He pursued advanced fellowship training in cornea, external diseases, and uveitis at the University of California, San Francisco and Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Newman applies his clinical expertise to treat both adolescent and adult patients, focusing on cataract surgery, glaucoma management, and corneal disease.

Dr. Newman is affiliated with Piedmont Rockdale Hospital and has held leadership roles including Chief of Medical Staff and Chief of the Department of Surgery at Rockdale Medical Center. He has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Newman has contributed to ophthalmic research and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications on corneal grafts and ocular infections.
