Dr. Michael Mercandetti

Dr. Mercandetti maintains a solo practice that emphasizes a comfortable, patient-focused environment. While the practice utilizes electronic medical records and kiosk check-in for efficiency, Dr. Mercandetti dedicates personal time to understand each patient’s concerns, provide thorough diagnoses, and answer questions. His practice is referral-based, with referrals from ophthalmologists, dermatologists, and primary care physicians who trust his expertise.

Dr. Mercandetti’s scope of care includes ophthalmic and facial reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, with a focus on the eyelids and face. He has developed extensive experience in skin cancer excision and post-surgical wound repair and management, including treatment of rare skin cancers requiring complex repairs. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist who completed a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery and a preceptorship in facial plastic surgery.

With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Mercandetti has helped restore function and appearance for thousands of patients. He served as a commissioned officer in the US Air Force and has been practicing in Sarasota County for over 16 years.
