Dr. John Mitchell

Dr. John D. Mitchell is a comprehensive ophthalmologist, cataract, and refractive surgeon at Mitchell & Morin Eye Institute in Vienna, Virginia, and Bethesda, Maryland. He has provided medical, laser, and surgical eye care to residents of Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland for over 25 years. He earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia Medical School and completed a residency in Ophthalmology at the Washington National Eye Center.

Dr. Mitchell sees patients for a wide range of eye care needs, including cataracts and glaucoma. As a refractive surgeon, he has a special interest and expertise in laser cataract surgery and lens implants (IOL), including toric lens implants to correct astigmatism and multifocal lenses to help reduce dependence on eyeglasses or reading glasses. He also offers refractive lens exchange (RLE) and implantable collagen lenses (ICL) for vision correction. His clinical interests also include medical and laser glaucoma treatments. Dr. Mitchell is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
