About Me

Dr. George A. (Jack) Cioffi is an internationally recognized glaucoma specialist and cataract surgeon who serves as the Edward S. Harkness Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at Columbia University. He is also the Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Cioffi provides comprehensive care for glaucoma, cataract, and complex anterior segment conditions, offering both medical and surgical treatments.

Dr. Cioffi completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Maryland, where he served as chief resident, and then pursued a fellowship in research and clinical glaucoma at the Devers Eye Institute. He is actively involved in advancing the field through his research, having published extensively and received sustained funding from the National Eye Institute. Dr. Cioffi has trained numerous fellows and is committed to educating the next generation of eye specialists.

In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Cioffi has held leadership positions including President of ColumbiaDoctors and Vice Dean of Clinical Affairs. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Academic Ophthalmology and has served on the FDA Ophthalmology/Dermatology Advisory Committee.
