Dr. Claudio Contreras

Dr. Claudio Contreras is a board-certified ophthalmologist in San Jose, California. His early exposure to medicine through his father, a retired general surgeon, and his own experience with myopia as a child inspired his career in eye care. Dr. Contreras brings a unique perspective to his practice, having trained in both internal medicine and ophthalmology. This dual training allows him to view each patient as a whole person, understanding that eye health is interconnected with overall health.

Dr. Contreras provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for eye conditions. He performs comprehensive eye examinations for adults and offers surgical and non-surgical management of eye diseases. His clinical focus includes cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetes-related eye conditions, as well as treating eye injuries and a variety of other eye diseases.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Contreras enjoys spending time with his wife, who is also a physician, and their two children. He stays active with biking and tennis, and enjoys reading and watching movies with his family.
